Objectives:

  • Estimate the national incidence and prevalence of Viral Load Suppression (VLS).
  • Assess the coverage and impact of HIV services at the household level.
  • Characterize HIV-related risk behaviors using a nationally representative sample of adults (aged 15+), young adolescents (aged 10-14), and children (aged 6 weeks to 9 years).

KENPHIA I survey provided groundbreaking data that has significantly shaped HIV-
related policies and programs in Kenya. KENPHIA II aims to build on this foundation and provide even more detailed insights.

Our Partners:
The Ministry of Health (MoH) through NASCOP is leading the implementation of KENPHIA II with CIHEB-Kenya as the implementing partner and support from various collaborators. The survey is funded by the US (PEPFAR) through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which also provides technical assistance in the planning and implementation of the survey.

KENPHIA II will cover all 47 counties, focusing on six counties where HIV prevalence exceeds 7%, enabling detailed estimates of HIV Prevalence and Viral Load Suppression at the county level.
